Nomination Process

The PMSE Division supports multiple divisional awards from prior donations and support from external sources. In addition, some ACS national awards are recognized here due to the high importance PMSE holds to those research field.

Process and Nominations

This award is managed through the American Chemical Society.  Please see the award page at ACS for more details.

Arthur K. Doolittle Award

Process

PMSE symposium organizers will submit nominations from their symposium to the PMSE Doolittle Award Committee. Recipients are selected by an anonymous panel of judges appointed by the PMSE Doolittle Award Committee.

Cooperative Research Award in Polymer Science and Engineering Sponsored by the Eastman Kodak Company

Process

A form is available from the Chair listing the preferred contents and format for a nomination.  All files should be in PDF format.

  • The nominee(s) for this award must have a documented record (patents, publications, etc.) of sustained, intensive cooperative and collaborative research across the university/industry or national laboratory/industry interface.
  • This award can be an individual award or can be shared between an academic and an industrial scientist or between a scientist from national laboratory and an industrial scientist.
  • If the research is carried out by a group of scientists from academia, national laboratory, or industry, the nomination should also highlight the contributions made by each researcher in the group.
  • The nomination should include brief curriculum vitae of the candidate(s) and significant evidence of the collaborative research including supporting letter(s) explaining the significance of the research.

Roy W. Tess Award

Process

A form is available from the Chair listing the preferred contents and format for a nomination.  Each nomination will be considered viable during the four award years following its receipt, but must be renewed for consideration beyond that time.

PMSE Honors

PMSE Distinguished Service Award

Nominations are invited for the Division of Polymeric Material: Science and Engineering’s Distinguished Service Award.  This award recognizes extensive, sustained service to the PMSE Division.  Successful applicants will have had on the order of 20+ years of engagement with PMSE, with substantial active involvement in the division (e.g. serving as a leader on the Division’s Executive Committee, organizing large symposia, serving PMSE on the ACS Council, leading important committee activities, etc.).

Process

The nominee(s) for this award must have a document record of sustained, extensive service to the PMSE Division.  The nomination should include a brief curriculum vitae of the candidate(s) and significant evidence of the extensive service to PMSE, including supporting letter(s) explaining the significance of the service to the division.

Each nomination will be considered viable during the four award years following its receipt, but must be renewed for consideration beyond that time.

2018 Nominations

Nominations for the 2018 award will be accepted until August 15, 2017.
